The importance of marketing in business
Why do we need marketing? Knowledge in marketing is very important because without marketing we might have made a mistake in selling the product.
Marketing can be useful for us because by learning marketing we will also learn about our prospective customers. We need to know our prospective customer. Identify who they are, where they live. What about their behavior? What do they need? How much are they buying power? These are kind of questions that we should know and we learn to answer these questions through marketing.
If we at least can get to know better about our customer, by answering those questions above correctly for instance, we then are more able to sell our product. Able to sell the product and making profit as many as we can is our main objective, isn’t it?

The Power of Positioning Differentiation and Brand Equity in Marketing
In positioning you plant your position in the mind of your customer in order to create a knowable identity of yourself. So we may also call positioning as identity creation.
This identity creation will not achieve its goal if you don’t support with the fact of how you differ from other. And this is called as differentiation.
With differentiation, your positioning will get its credibility in the customer’s perception.
Positioning which supported by strong differentiation will result in powerful brand integrity. Brand integrity will then also result in brand image. And brand image will finally strengthen your determined positioning.
So all those three aspect of marketing will finally come in a circle.
When we are talking about marketing strategy, we should bear in mind these three aspect.
From now on you should determine your position in front of your customer among other producers. What will your customer see in you?
After that you need to think some quality that you have that might be different from other producer’s quality. Why should your customer choose to buy from you instead from other supplier? What is your uniqueness?
If these two aspects have finally planted in your customer’s mind then automatically you will have a brand equity in your customer’s mind. What do they believe in you? They somehow have a belief that you are capable in a certain area.
The meaning of positioning in business
Positioning is very important because it helps your customer to identify you clearly among others supplier or producers. Positioning determines your identity in the market.
Positioning can also mean your promise something to offer to your customer. By placing yourself into a certain are in your customer’s mind you also promise them that you are indeed capable in that area.
Positioning is very important in marketing but this can not stand alone. It must be supported by another way which I will discuss in my next posting.
